Happy Hutong Days

This was one of those rare beautiful Beijing days where you forget about the smog and you could completely lose yourself in the narrow colourful Hutong lanes.

On days like these, life doesn’t feel real. It feels more like you are living in some spectacular holiday resort of colourful eye candy.

People are interesting, and interested in us, sneaky photos are taken by us and of us. The air is clear, outfits are colourful, hats are big and everybody is happy.

There are some very Chinese moments and then some, like a quiet lunch spot on a floral roof terrace where you forget you are even in China.

I adore days like these. If only they weren’t so few and far between.
